Based in Mumbai,Sowmya and Arati, completed their CIDTT program in 2007 (Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers Training). Having got many offers from different International schools, they chose not to take up a full time job. Having small children themselves , and having a passion for teaching, they came up with the idea of ‘ Learning by Doing’. They started Science activity based classes for their children, and their children’s friends. Soon the children were hooked on it, and the parents, extremely happy. And thus, Science Alive India was born.
Primarily by word of mouth, their number of batches grew. From one batch a week, they now have batches every day. These batches are the regular STEM programs which they have all year round. Other than their all year STEM programs, they also conduct holiday camps, thematic workshops during weekends, and free Webinars.SCI believes that Everyone has the right to Education, and this responsibility has been made into a reality by their Voluntary Work. From Cankids ( school for children with cancer), Akanksha foundation, Angel Express foundation to Anvaya Foundation, they believe in bridging the gap in society.
When lockdown happened, SCI was quick, and successful, in converting their offline model into an online one. The reach was now Pan India. They even conducted a workshop for International students. With a lot more students enrolled now, SCI was at its busiest in 2020.They are also happy that their Online Program continued (with more participation and Zeal), helping close to 75 children of Shedgaon, and nearby Villages in Maharashtra with their school curriculum.
