Mahalakshmi Saravanan is an internationally recognized first-generation social entrepreneur and TEDx speaker. She was born in Ketti, a small village in The Nilgiris, belongs to the indigenous community called Badagas. She became an accidental entrepreneur with no knowledge of business and she started her business from scratch. Today, her brand "Women Entrepreneurs India" has become an internationally recognized brand that supports and encourages women to become entrepreneurs. Her journey started with zero contacts in the industry and has grown into an internationally recognized brand with thousands of women entrepreneurs under this banner – Women Entrepreneurs India. She is a pioneer social entrepreneur who helps women start-up, reinforce their business roots and grow their businesses. Her service-minded nature has helped her impact the lives of women who aspire to start and grow their businesses.
Mahalakshmi Saravanan is passionate about creating better opportunities for women and has been encouraging budding entrepreneurs. With her indomitable optimism and can-do spirit, she has become a role model for thousands of aspiring women entrepreneurs today. Mahalakshmi Saravanan has 20+ of total experience(16 years in business and 4 and a half years in academics). She completed her post-graduation in Food Science and Nutrition from Avinashilingam University, Coimbatore. She started her career as a lecturer in the SRM University(IHM) and worked for more than 4 and half years during which she was a teacher and mentor to several batches of students. As an academically inclined person, she has cleared the national and state-level exams namely the Agricultural Research Scientist-National Educational Test (ARS-NET) and SLET. She launched her business in 2013 as she was passionate about women's entrepreneurship and women's empowerment. She has dedicated her time to empowering many entrepreneurs across India and they look up to her as their role model.
